The River City Real Estate Downtown Farmers Market begins this week in downtown Grand Junction.

Thursday is the first day of the summer long farmers market in downtown Grand Junction that will be held every Thursday from 5:30PM-8:30PM through September 15.

I know some people that come down for most- if not all of the farmers markets during the summer because it changes every week. It's a great way to spend some time outdoors during the western Colorado summer.

Over 17 local farmers are expected to participate, offering a variety of fresh produce including sweet corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, and much more. In a few weeks, the market will be brimming with those fresh, juicy Palisade peaches.

Of course, there will be live entertainment each week at  various venues along main street featuring local artists, plus vendor and sponsor booths - and there's always free parking for the Farmers Market. Patrons are welcome to use the parking garage on Rood Ave. or other parking options in the downtown vicinity.

Here's this week's entertainment line-up.

  • 4th and Main - Centennial Band
  • 6th and Main - Josh Rogan
  • 7th and Main - Clyde and the Milltailers

Just a reminder that dogs are not allowed at downtown Grand Junction events, so all non-service animals should be left at home.

Swing by downtown Grand Junction for a few minutes on your way home before dinner, or come by after dinner and enjoy the "cool" of the evening at the first farmers market of the year.
