I love the holidays. Waiting for Santa to come, and the thrill of waking up on Christmas morning to see what all is under the tree. There's no better feeling.

With the holidays upon us, I wanted to share some of my favorite memories and traditions I still enjoy.

When I was little, my parents would spend days decorating! My dad would string up the lights around the house while my mother was in the kitchen making tasty goodies.

It was a family tradition to invite every kid on the block to the house, and the festivities would begin. As a group we would sing Christmas carols, drink warm cider and play games.

I still practice this tradition today. Except with me being an adult (kid at heart) all my friends and their kids are now my focus of the tradition.

We also made gift bags filled with homemade candy or cookies, and give them out to everyone in the neighborhood.

Traditions may be old school for some, but for me, it is still something that I hold true to my heart. It is my way to honor those who have passed. The smile it brings to friends and families fills my heart with happiness. It reminds me there is still good in the world.

Pass on a tradition to someone you know. Remember the reason for the season and take the time to enjoy the most wonderful time of the year.
