Pixar’s upcoming musical Coco is one of the most anticipated animated movies of the year. The movie will give the House of Mouse their first Latino star in a story about family and Mexican culture. In a typical Friday Disney news release, the studio has unveiled a new poster for the upcoming movie.

We don’t get a look at the young 12-year-old lead Miguel just yet in the new one sheet, but there’s plenty of visual nods to the movie’s themes. The colorful poster has Miguel’s decorative white acoustic guitar, the boy’s pet dog, and some skeleton bones that reference the history of Día de Muertos, or “Day of the Dead,” which the film revolves around. The lace decorations draped across the poster also feature illustrations of the movie’s characters, including Miguel with his dog and his great-grandmother Imelda.

The movie follows Miguel defying his family’s generations-ling grudge against music in the household by following his idol, a musician named Ernesto de la Cruz (voiced by Benjamin Bratt). The boy then winds up on a magical journey in the Land of the Dead with the help of Gael Garcia Bernal‘s Hector. Here’s the latest synopsis:

Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

Coco is co-directed by Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 3) and screenwriter Adrian Molina. Unkrich revealed on Twitter today that the first trailer for the movie will drop sometime next week. Coco hits theaters November 22.
