Despite its fair share of early development problems, Disney's upcoming 'Cinderella' movie finally seems to be getting its act together. The most recent news from the production is that 'The Borgias' star Holliday Grainger is in final talks to join as one of the title character's cruel stepsisters.

Everyone who had a childhood knows the story of Cinderella, the orphaned girl who endures years of abuse at the hands of her evil stepmother and her equally evil stepsisters only to win the heart of a dashing prince with the help of a little magic. We don't know if there's a special hook in Kenneth Branagh's upcoming adaptation of the story, though we're not expecting the same "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo"-spouting Fairy Godmother from our childhoods. But you know what they say: if isn't broken, don't fix it.

Via The Wrap, Grainger, having to endure the recent cancellation of 'The Borgias,' now joins a cast that already includes Lily Cole as Cinderella, 'Game of Thrones' star Richard Madden as the prince and the great Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmother. Since this tale has always traditionally featured a pair of stepsisters, we wonder who else is under consideration to stand alongside Grainger as she ridicules and humiliates the future princess.

Although we don't know when 'Cinderella' will go in front of the cameras, we do know that the production is aiming for a 2014 release. We don't know about you, but this sounds like a late fall/early winter kind of movie to us.
