· Relay For Life is the county's largest fund-raiser given by a nonprofit. Relay is a fun way to join with others in the community in the fight against cancer and to raise funds for the activities of the American Cancer Society.Funds raised go for research and grants to find a cure for cancer, education, advocacy, and services.
· Relay is a way to celebrate the lives being saved from cancer and to remember those lost. Survivors and caregivers are honored at the Survivor Reception and they lead the first lap of the Relay.If you are a cancer survivor or caregiver, you are invited to participate in a special ceremony in your honor during the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life on June 13 at Canyon View Park. · To better understand ways to prevent cancer, the American Cancer Society's Department of Epidemiology and Surveillance Research is recruiting 500,000 adults across the United States for a new research study.The Cancer Prevention Study - 3 will help us understand the genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that cause or prevent cancer.Enrollment for the Cancer Prevention Study - 3 will be held at the Relay from 5:00 - 9:00pm. Anyone who is between 30 and 65 years old is eligible to join in the study, if they have never been diagnosed with cancer and are willing to make a long-term commitment to the study, which simply involves completing periodic follow-up surveys. |
