I know that Grand Junction, like every city, has good and bad. Sometimes it's far too easy to focus on the bad, and I feel like a lot of people do. Here are 7 reasons that I think you should love this town.

1. The Colorado Sunrise

I thought of this one this morning as I was driving to pick up my daughter from her mom's house. I remember waking up, grumpy, of course, because it was earlier than I wanted to be up, and before I even had coffee I realized that I was happy to be awake because the sunrise was so beautiful. You have to admit that even in the winters, we have beautiful sunrises here in Grand Junction.

2. The Colorado River

You have to admit that the river here is not onlybeautiful, but also awesome. The Colorado River supplies water to over 25 million people, and it flows right through the middle of our town. We have an extensive network of beautiful river trails to walk, and the rafting in Grand Junction is always relaxing and fun.

3. The Colorado National Monument

Whether you're looking for a beginners hike, and grueling hike, or just a beautiful view from your front porch, the Colorado National Monument provides all of the above. Rimrock drive (which scales up the monument) is also a popular mountain biking challenge. Even if just for the view, the Colorado Monument is definitely a reason to love living here.

4. Our Coffee Shops

If there is one thing that we love in Grand Junction, it's our coffee. Colorado Legacy Coffee, for instance, is roasted here in Grand Junction, and it's as good as any coffee I've ever had. Even if you don't want local coffee, our local coffee shops still boast a great social atmosphere, and beautiful views to drink your coffee to. A few of my local favorites are Roasted Coffee, Traders Coffee, Monument Village Coffee Shop, Octopus Coffee, and Trailhead Coffee.

5. Our Booze

Colorado is home to some of the best breweries, wineries, and distilleries in the world, and Western Colorado is no exception. There is nothing like independently brewed and distilled alcohol, and if you haven't tried our local booze, you're truly missing out. A few of my favorites are The Rockslide Brew and Pub, The Palisade Brewing Company, Kannah Creek, St Katherines Cellars, and Peach Street Distillery.

6. The Dry Air

If you've never tried jogging in humidity, then you probably don't have the appreciation for our dry air that you really should. Mid-summer humidity can be absolutely excruciating, and we are extremely lucky to have the dry air that we have here.

7. Our Festivals and Events

There is certainly no shortage of events and festivals in Grand Junction, especially in the summer. Country Jam is one of our largest musical events, but there are always music concerts and festivals happening here, including the Thursday night concert series in Fruita. In addition, there are always bike races and 5ks, just about every single weekend.

Whether you're into good coffee, good booze, pretty views, music, or mountain biking, there are so many reasons for you to love living in Grand Junction.
