In Colorado, we take our beer very seriously. I’m speaking from personal experience, of course. I’ve been to all of the breweries in the area, and I’ve tried if all. If you’re looking for the best Colorado beers available this spring, here's what I suggest.

Island Mesa Blonde:
A traditional English Ale, this is a very light beer. I found it to be crisp and refreshing. I’m not always a light beer guy, but if you’re looking for a good light, springtime beer, this is a great option. You can get your hands (and your lips) on Island Mesa Blonde at the Kannah Creek Edgewater Brewery.

Rabbit Ears Amber Ale:
If you fancy something a little darker (but don’t want to drink your lunch) than Rabbit Ears Amber is your go-to this spring. It’s very much a medium-bodied beer, with caramel and nutty undertones. I find it has a good balance of malt and hops (which I’m quite picky about). Rabbit Ears Amber Ale belongs to The Rockslide Brewery, downtown.

Soul Shakin’ Imperial Red:
This is the newest beer at the Palisade Brewing Company. This beer is delicious, but definitely not for the weak or unseasoned beer drinker. It definitely has nutty and caramel undertones, with an aggressive hoppy (almost IPA) taste, and citrus finish. This is, by every definition of the word, an Imperial Red. You can find it at the Palisade Brewing Company.

Dirty Hippie Dark American Wheat:
This is my favorite beer, ever. Unfiltered, dark, wheat beer. I drink Dirty Hippie year round, and I highly suggest it. Don’t forget to top it with an orange slice. You can find this beer at The Palisade Brewing Company, and several restaurants and local bars.

Kokopelli Cream Ale:
This is a smooth, creamy, light beer. If you are a light beer fan, and you haven’t tried the Kokopelli Cream Ale at the Rockslide, you need to make it a priority. I also noticed a smooth vanilla taste, to the finish. You can find Kokopelli Cream at the Rockslide.
