Having the kids home all summer can be time-consuming, and expensive. Nowadays it's so easy to set them in front of the tv or the iPad and call it good. But it's so so important that they actually get out and do things. Which is why I found this list of awesome (and inexpensive) things that you can do with your kids this summer, here in Grand Junction.

Spin City Cheap Skate Night

Spin City has tons of fun activities for children, from laser tag to the arcade, they have a big jungle play place they can climb around in, and a skating rink. I don't know if they offer deals on the other activities, but they do have cheap skate nights! Meaning you can take the family skating for the evening without hurting your wallet too bad. To find out exactly when their cheap-skate nights are, check out their website Spin City.

Tuesday and Wednesday Matinee

Regal Theater offers a $1 per person matinee, featuring popular children's movies. If you use your Regal Club Card on Tuesdays they offer $2 popcorn. They don't play the most recent releases for this price, but they do play popular kids movies such as Ice Age, Earth to Echo, and more. You should be able to look up the upcoming matinees on google.

Freeway Bowling Summer Deals

Freeway Bowl is always offering great deals on their summer bowling. I've seen it as low as $1 per game! They do have other activities there as well, such as pool tables, arcade games and more. It's always changing, so check their website at Freeway Bowl to see what deals and specials they have coming up.

Mesa County Library

The Mesa County Library is always featuring fun, educational related activities for kids. And even if you don't partake in those, it's good to keep them reading throughout the summer. Help them find books that interest them so that their little brains keep working. Something else you may not have known is that you can actually rent video games from the Library, using only your library card! Check out the Mesa County Library Website for more details.

Local Pools

This is kind of an obvious one, but you'd be surprised at some of the deals and specials all of our local pools offers. As I said before, this summer doesn't have to break your wallet, you just need to plan ahead. From the Lincoln Park Pool to the one in Orchard Mesa, Fruita, and why not check out what the Glenwood Hot Springs and Ouray Hot Springs are offering as well? After all, they are both only 1-2 hours away! Just plan ahead and keep your kids active this summer!
