Montrose may be a well-kept secret outside of Colorado,  but, here are 10 things everyone knows about Montrose.

Montrose is not a large city, but its 20,000 residents and everyone who visits knows how much the city has to offer.

With its great recreational park, golf courses, and close proximity to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, it's an outdoorsman's paradise.

But, there's also great history associated with Montrose since it was founded in 1882. It gained fame in 1909 with the construction of the Gunnison Tunnel, which at the time was the longest irrigation tunnel in the world. Today, Montrose is a booming town and it just keeps getting better.

    American screenwriter Dalton Trumbo was born in Montrose before moving to Grand Junction and graduating from Grand Junction High School. He's best known for "Roman Holiday", "Spartacus", "Exodus", and "30 Seconds Over Tokyo." He died in 1976, and in 1993 was posthumously given the Academy Award for writing "Roman Holiday."
